Marriage
Marriage in the Catholic Church is a sacred covenant, a lifelong union rooted in love, faith, and commitment. At St. Thomas the Apostle, we are honored to accompany engaged couples as they prepare not only for their wedding day, but for a lifetime of faithful, Christ-centered marriage.
Marriage Preparation
Preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage is a meaningful and prayerful process designed to help couples grow in their relationship with one another and with God. The Archdiocese of Miami strongly encourages couples to allow ample time for this formation, recommending several months of preparation.
For this reason, couples must contact the parish at least 6–8 months prior to their desired wedding date—and preferably sooner—before making any other arrangements.
The preparation process typically includes:
- An initial meeting with a priest or deacon
- Completion of a premarital inventory and discussions
- Participation in an approved marriage preparation program (such as Transformed in Love or Camino)
- Instruction in Natural Family Planning
- Guidance in planning the wedding liturgy
This journey is an opportunity to deepen your love and build a strong spiritual foundation for your marriage.
Getting Started
To begin the process, we invite you to contact the Parish Office as soon as you are engaged. A meeting will be scheduled with a priest or deacon to guide you through the next steps and outline the necessary documentation.
Please note that, if you choose to get married at St. Thomas the Apostle, a wedding date cannot be confirmed until the initial meeting and preparation process have begun.
